Some cheap games:

Plague Inc. - strategy game where you control a pathogen and must evolve it to wipe out all of humanity. Good fun. I think it's based on some old Flash game. 69p only.

Asphalt 7: Heat (Gameloft). Racing game. 69p only.

Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation (Gameloft). Shooter. Currently on sale at only 69p (I'd guess the normal price is probably £4.99, as that's what the second game currently costs)

Predicting the next Mac desktops

I’m guessing, therefore, that we’ll see new iMacs with Ivy Bridge CPUs, and probably with Retina displays, in October or early November.

What? Fuck that.

Oh, wait...

UPDATE 2: I’ve now heard from multiple sources that while an iMac update is indeed coming this fall, it will not have Retina displays. Oops. Can’t win ‘em all.

Fuck that, once again.

I can understand the delay if the iMac was getting a Retina display, but if it isn't (& I don't care if it gets one or not)... then there's no reason I can think of to delay until the "Fall". Everything needed for a standard spec bump is ready right now... unless Apple is switching its desktops to Nvidia, like it has switched the MBP to Nvidia, in which case everything needed for a standard spec bump will be ready in July.


OK, this is one developer speculating... but he does say that he has heard this from "multiple sources". I don't know what the guy's track record is like for anything like this.

Unless any concrete information comes out about a much-delayed refresh, I am sticking with my "buy whatever once Mountain Lion is released" plan. 2012 iMac? Great. No 2012 iMac? Fuck it, I'll give in and get a 2011.

Kind of a weird one, Apple has released a stand alone podcast app!

This weird for a few reasons. It was rumoured this would happen when the iOS 6 beta came out of WWDC and it's version of iTunes had no Podcasts apps. But yesterday in iOS 6 Beta 2 the podcast tab returned.

Also what's weird is normally Apple save their own new apps as sections of keynotes. Sure a podcast app isn't huge keynote sized news, but it was rumoured that splitting off podcasts was part of a replacement of the iTunes apps with separate apps for TV, Movies and Music as Apps, Newsstand, iTunes University and iBooks currently have.

My guess is this is like the iBooks author thing, the Keynote for the next iPhone is starting to come together. The podcasts app doesn't make the cut.

Going to check it out in a mo. Just off the treadmill and a bit too sweaty to handle an iPad.

I can't say that I see the point, I had no problem listening to podcasts through the music app. Sure, you couldn't subscribe on the iOS device but they could have added that instead of making a whole new app that does mostly the same thing.

I think the point is iTunes is a mess, it was made for selling far less content and less types of content than it does now. By splitting stuff off it makes it more manageable and understandable.

iTunes is a mess, but I'd rather they tried to clean it up with more intuitive UI rather than break it all up into chunks spread across different apps.

It pisses off my desire for a clean layout on my phone!

I kinda like having a separate app. Not so much on the iPhone but mainly on the iPad where the podcast section is a bit shitty atm.

This is why Draw Something is so amazeballs.



I was chuffed with that effort. I'd post more, but some of them are downright disturbing.
