Just to be clear, the spiderman 3 thing was quite obviously a joke, it seems it was far to subtle for some.

And again to be clear, I'm talking about the original Richard Donner 1978 Superman not Superman Returns.

The Avengers is a very good film, but some people really need some perspective. It's no where near the pantheon of greatest films ever made.I doubt it'll even be the best film out this year, in fact by my count there could easily be 3 or 4 that are better by the end of the year.

It pretty much is. However, that has been amplified by all the awesome reviews you guys are giving it.

As well as preferring The Avengers to all other Marvel films (MCU and non-MCU), I also prefer it to all the Superman films... even the good ones.

As for where I'd put it compared to Nolan's Bat-films*... not sure. While I do love the Nolan Bat-films, and think they're better films, I think that The Avengers is a better comic-book superhero film... And it's certainly more fun.



*[Nolan's Bat-films themselves are IMO way above Burton's, while the Schumacher ones are... below everything.]

You could argue that it's basic semantics, but yes, Batman is most definitely not a super-hero. I don't class Nolan's Batman movies as super-hero movies. As for why I think the Incredible Hulk is shit, in fairness I've only seen it once, but I can barely remember the plot apart from Roth's character not wanting to age. Speaking of Roth, he's an actor I've always liked, but was a shit villain in this. Sam Elliott was far better as Betty's dad than William Hurt. As for preferring Ang Lee's Hulk, I just preferred the origin story that was told, and thought Bana was really good as Banner. Nick Nolte was superb ... though I will concede that the ending of the film is diabolical and undoes pretty much all that came before (mutant dogs and all).

Well, since this movie comes out this Friday here, I bought "Avengers Marathon" tickets. Starting at noon Thursday they will air all the movies (Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 1 & 2, etc.) and then at midnight they show The Avengers.

$35. Intermissions of course, thank God. Still Haven't seen Captain America so I'm looking forward to it. Plus I never got to see Thor or The Incredible Hulk in theaters.
