Best High Street Store For Selling Games?

Postby D3K on Fri Dec 29, 2006 12:59 pm

What would you say the best store is for buying games off you?

Around me I have Blockbuster, Choices, Cash Generator, Game and Gamestation.

And I really need to get rid of some of these games. I don't have paypal or anything so I can't sell them online. So what do you say?

Depends on the games and if ur wanting anything back in return.

Eg i took smackdown vs raw in togame to get proevo 6 and they gave me a fiver the way it worked out

so someone behind me freaking out as to why he had to pay 20 quid for it and i got paid a fiver to buy it

otherwise id say gamestop or ebay

I went around those shops today.

I sold Shadow The Hedgehog for £4 in Cash Generator.

Game wont buy XIII because they've got millions of them. They offered me £15 total for 8 other games.

Choices were only able to buy a few and that came to about £7.50 trade in value, or less than a fiver cash.

Gamestation offered £15.50 for all 9 games.

CEX offered be about £13.50 cash, or £17 trade in.

Blockbuster I needed an account with, doubt I would have gotten much there anyway.

So, I think I'll trade XIII in in CEX, get £2 for it, then sell the rest in game and make £15 there. Doubt I'll get any more. :(

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to put you through the torture of playing it.

It's such a terrible game.

On a sort of related subject, my son's godfather got him a game from Amazon for Christmas.

Only problem is - he got Lego Star Wars 2 instead if the first one. I thought that it would be fairly easy to bring it into Game, and swap for the correct game, with maybe a credit note for the difference in price, but both Games in town said no.

Is this a standard policy, or were they just being grumpy becuase they were so busy? The game is still cellophane wrapped and sealed, so they can see I haven't been playing it. Will Gameplay be the same? I can try to go to the one in reading next week, but if someone works for Gameplay and knows it will save me the hassle. It will just be easier than having to send it back to Amazon and try to sort out replacing.

Gameplay? They don't take back anything you don't have listed in your account. Why can't you simply return it to Amazon?

Because I didn't buy it, so I have to get hold of the guy who did, arrange to send it back, sort out the difference in price etc - thought it might be easier to just swap it in store.

For most other goods if you bring it into a shop which sells it, they will generally swap it whether you bought it there or not. The game's still sealed, so they can sell it as new.

Oh - and I think I meant Gamestation

I think the reason they won't is because I used to run a little scam where I bought new sealed games off ebay for cheap and swapped them at GAME and HMV for newer ones blagging it was an unwanted gift or the like. I reckon loads of people did this, it don't work anymore though :(
