I think in the future we could see proper screen recordings of any moment in the game, without having to render offline.

And...they should do what OnLive does. You log into xbox live, see your friendslist and see Harry online playing Forza 4. Instead of just "join game" there should be "watch game" ... as long as Harry has this option turned on, anyone on his friendlist at any moment can watch a live stream of him playing. That is 1 thing I have dreamed about for years, again, OnLive does it so well, cos you know people are watching as it says "4 people spectating" and they can thumbs up and down you as your playing.
But the potential for this is huge, it would take tournaments to the next level and a final of a tournament would be this big epic spectacle with the whole BXB community watching live and so just adding to the pressure the finalists would be feeling. Instead of the 2 finalists playing and then reporting back in the forums, BXB could even start selling tshirts with "I was there" on them after the tournaments.

In my opinion as far this will go will be recording TV services you can get through Xbox Live while playing a game. You won't be able to play XBL at the time for obvious reasons but it means you can game and watch TV back later on. On the in game guide there will be a TV guide page to reserve programs. Really useful for when you want to play that extra 30 mins or so.
Uploading gameplay footage is useless at the moment. Yes DiRT3 did it as we're awesome but that was limited to 30 seconds and with UK upload speeds that took ages to get onto youtube at only 480p. You want to share a whole race and you can kiss a few hours gone while it uploads.
Only way they can do that is make video replay data available for others to see. Much like ghost data but more complete like what is recorded while racing for the replay if you want to view it. Problem is you need the game to render that replay.

No way! All they need to do is what PlayTV currently does on the PS3, you can record TV on your PS3 right now, doing series link etc etc and it's free once you buy the £40 addon. I've been using it to record all the F1 race weekends over the past few years. It works flawlessly can even recommend stuff to friendslist and see what your friends have been watching, again, like the capturing of video... this stuff is already out there, it's not make believe stuff or US only anymore. This is exciting, cos Microsoft do it, SONY will do it and Steam will add video capture too. So next gen is gonna be the dream of capturing gameplay in any game! We need a screenshot button like Steam has with the ability to upload to your xbox live profile, again, the current consoles kinda have this feature only it's not required of all games.
gooner4life_uk wrote:Exactly what I said Kevin, you won't be able to play games and record content from sky on your Xbox for example (it's the only app that does live tv in the uk) so it would need some sort of tuner either built in or separate, I'd wager they will go full DVR for a large cable co in the states to replace set top boxes with the nextbox.
For streaming tv it has to handle too much to do it in the background and streaming rights are far too complicated when compared to traditional tv broadcasts.

It's probably in MS's interest to force their hand and make Sony rush something out in 2012. MS are probably better positioned to do something in 2012. Plus there's the advantage of nullifying Nintendo's plan with the Wii U.
Just imagine, Xmas 2013. Sony has a new console with a few launch quality titles and a expensive console, that isn't that much more powerful for the extra year in development. Coming up against a console (maybe 2) with a full years worth of games, running on more refined game engines with the possibility of a one year/price cut or bundle?

Sony: "No announcement of PS4 at E3 2012".
I never thought they would, but MCV claim it was happening. 2013/2014 is when PS4 will start to exist in the public eye.
