It's not clear right now whether the second character, Carver, is with Isaac at all times. It sounds like the game is still single player at its core, and that when a second player controls Carver you'll see unique story sequences and have access to areas which require two players. Whether or not that means Carver is controlled by AI or simply not physically present in single player... I can't figure out.

Just confirmed to me on Twitter - "if you choose to go solo, then solo shall you go. No NPCs to help out- It'll just be you."

EDIT - And more. "What's also cool is how seamlessly a friend can join/drop out of your game. It won't effect your storyline, but adds puzzles!"

I'll get this, and I'll probably like it, but what I really can't wait for is for Visceral to make another series. A whole new IP, using their experience in creating awesome, creepy environments.

The Twitter-person running their feed won't tell me how the secondary player enters the game. I asked whether the second player character's story phased in and out as the second player dropped in and out... They came back with "Cryptic answer time... You'll see!"

To which I replied "Drops in from the sky in a pod!"

New novel coming, from the author of "Dead Space: Martyr". Which was a really good read. It's another prequel, set after Martyr but years before the first game. It'll be published worldwide in October.

Dead Space: Catalyst takes place three hundred years in the future, where mankind is tampering with the dangerous alien technology gleaned from the Black Marker, an ancient alien artifact discovered on Earth centuries earlier. Hoping to end resource constraints that threaten to make mankind extinct, the urgency sinks the already unscrupulous EarthGov to new lows. At this early stage, the Marker threat is just appearing – and is maybe even contained – except if it finds the catalyst it so desperately seeks. Two brothers, one with a special but broken mind, the other forever conflicted by the impossible chore of keeping him out of trouble, cross paths with EarthGov and the Markers at this critical juncture and forever change the course of the Marker outbreak.

So when you play this game in Co-op, you get to access different areas. What's more interesting/cool is that each player sees things differently. So when Carver is having a mental breakdown, and hallucinating, Clarke won't be seeing the same thing. So you can have scenarios where Carver is in meltdown but can't technically see the real threat, whilst Clarke can.



Co-op is still an option though, the story is Isaac's in the main. Carver expands the plot with his own story layered in.

This is out February right? Very much looking forward to it. I like the sound of how they're implementing the coop.

I like how he mentions some genuinely interesting uses of Kinect. Which they didn't include.

You should definitely play the first game it's easily one of the best games this generation. The second game for me was a major disappointment.

No might about it! You have to! Both awesome games. Some people moaned because 2 wasn't a carbon copy of the first but its still a brilliant game.

Both should be dirt cheap as well.
