I'm hoping Fez dude can be the guy who makes Microsoft change their ways. It needs someone like him to stand up and make a noise. Cos if he just rolls over and pays up, it will all go quite again. If he doesn't fix it, it could lead to Microsoft having to do something ... ultimately, it could bring about a change which at the end of the day, is only gonna help Microsoft in the long run and us gamers, especially xbox only gamers. So it's in our best interest that he makes a noise.

None of these articles mention anything about people with 33 anti-cubes not being able to view the ending.

I agree that Microsoft's certification rules could be more lenient, it would be a great help to smaller guys. Think about it this way though, Microsoft demands it goes through certification again so it won't break the game. At least Microsoft takes the stuff seriously. Though it would be nice if it wasn't such a pricy process.

Regardless though, Polytron must have known this before hand and signed the contract to work with Microsoft. Fish has decided that he'd rather keep his money than suck it up and fix his product to support his customers. His phrasing of it as "Big company vs Small guy" will get him sympathy with most people because Microsoft is easy to hate. If a big company decided that patching their broken game wasn't worth it, they'd get shredded. Gears 2 was patched 6 times. That's 6 certification processes. That's very likely over a million dollars.

I know what you're saying and I agree 100% .. but at the same time, sometimes someone needs to be "that guy" that gets the ball rolling on changing something that I think most people will agree is out of date when compared with the competition. It's something you hear on Podcasts and whatnot all the time, developers saying how difficult it is working with Microsoft, and projects that never made it to xbox because of this. And we gamers do suffer, look at PC and PS3, games get free content updates all the time.

I guess it's just nice to see someone not be afraid to risk destroying their relationship with Microsoft, cos it's for the greater good.

I just watched Indie Game: The Movie and he did seem like a cunt. It did seem like he put his heart and soul into it though. I agree with what others are saying that it should be cheaper for recertification but how much do Sony charge?

I imagine the argument would be yeh, it costs, but what MS do to check and make sure the content works is the price you pay. Of course the counter argument to that is they didn't catch the problem with the Fez patch in the first place so what the hell are you paying for?

Still doesn't get around the fact they dude knew who he was getting into bed with and on top of dealing with MS at all signed an exclusive deal with them. Something in this day and age (when almost all devs need to go multi platform to make back dev costs) means only one thing, he was swayed by a BUT LOAD of cash. So once again greed overrules sense.

He also said that he pays Microsoft to be on their platform, which I find very hard to believe.

Well he is, in a very round about way.
Still I think the cost is a good idea, it says to developers, don't think you can get away with putting shit on the arcade.
Even though that still happens

Microsoft responds.

Microsoft Studios chose to support this decision based on the belief that Polytron/Trapdoor were in the best position to determine what the acceptable quality level is for their game. While we do not disclose the cost of Title Updates, we did offer to work with Trapdoor to make sure that wasn’t a blocking issue.

It was this or Dragonborn, and seeing as I'd rather play Dawnguard before Dragonborn, I went for this. Bloody addictive!
