Microsoft's freshly-formed internal Halo studio, 343 Industries, is working on a Halo: Combat Evolved remake.

That's according to "industry chatter" reported in the new Games Master magazine, which writes that the updated game could run on the Halo: Reach engine and arrive ahead of a full Halo 3 sequel in late 2012.

A year ago I would agree.

However, this is the best way for 343 to get the Halo feel down without much risk or making a new engine.

Normally, I'd say true, but if this story came to be through CVG's Tim Ingham, then I wouldn't be so quick to disregard it. Tim has one of the best contact books in the global industry and he is one of the few people I would trust if he said that this was true.

Personally i'm done with Halo, It's left me on a good note, but only just, anything eles and it'll out stay it's welcome.

I'd agree with that in the sense that the shooters are getting a bit tired. But the universe has so much more to it and I think much more could be done. I would still like to see a Halo Wars 2 or even an RPG based in the Halo universe.

What I really have always wanted in the Halo universe is a game where you relive epic moments as a Marine. Not an ODST or some special forces team, just a regular Marine in a giant epic battle. I'd love to witness the fall of Reach as a Marine or even a civilian militia.

I remember hoping that ODST would be like that, but sadly it was not. I still liked it but it wasn't what I wanted exactly.

EDIT: Also, why the fuck isn't there an option to have the Flood in Firefight? I know they're not in the campaign, but zombies aren't in CoD, so who gives a fuck?! I want to fight off hordes of Flood, damnit!

I don't quite understand your last comment but fair play.
I know my views arn't popular with Halo but I used adore the Halo games, Halo 2 was the height of the series for sure.
Another 3-4 years and Call Of Duty will be the same, i'm thinking the day of the FPS is coming to a close.
If you disagree then look at what FPS's people are playing, it's Halo and COD and maybe just maybe a bit of battlefield. Surely you can't keep those 2-3 things going for over 10 years, the bar needs to be raised.
Halo never took it above the 2nd interation and COD has reached it's peak.

However if they managed to make this classic better, directors cut style then it might just be worth a look.
