Auz manages to get Dubai into the thread again!

High fuel prices aren't too bad except for the fact that affordable technology isn't keeping up. There are a load of massively fuel efficient cars that can half your fuel bills etc, but they cost too much at present. You'd have to keep the car too many years for it to actually pay off.

The fuel prices are fuelling innovation, and car companies are more reactive than any government will ever be. I have a lot of hope for cars that have a petrol engine just as a generator to power electric motors. It cuts down on the weight and issues that batteries have currently.

Fuel duty going up 3p in August is a silly decision.

A lot of the issues with electric cars are down to charging. AC chargers are more common but take a long time to fully charge the battery, DC chargers are much quicker but drastically reduce the battery life. Add to this the lack of charging points (understandable as it's not a viable way to spend what little money the country has) and it's going to be a lot longer than we would like for electric cars to properly take off.

This is all down to battery development though I think I remember reading an article dealing specifically with speeding up charging. I use public transport at the moment and if I did have the money I would buy a tesla model s.

there isn't enough oil on the planet to replace all the cars with electric ones.
It takes 31 litres of oil to make one tyre .

Sure there alot of oil left but we're hitting peak.
The problem is the enviroment says we cant keep buring as much as we do. If global warming gets above 2oC then it could kick the planet into a serious downfall.

I've tried to talk to poeple about it, it's stunning how many people don't give a shit.
Yet look at them all now, all queued up on the forecort making me actually turn round and go a different direction because they were blocking my route home.
....all of this because someones mentioned a strike that hasnt even had a date set and at the absolute soonest it would be a full 7 days away.....

The planet will be fine the only thing that will be hurt by global warming is us.

I pray for the day we run out of oil because as a people we are reactive not proactive. Just look at how much we spend on science compared to other fields it's just retarded. Sooner we are hit with a proper oil shortage the better.

Causing possibly the biggest and longest economic depression in history? Yeah sounds great.

Not really.
I think people forget that life on earth has a domino effect and is extremely sensitive.
Birds don't goto places where certain food doesn't grow, stuff that feeds on the birds don't survive etc etc etc and all because maybe the weather is more dry and a certain weed wont grown.
In the past 10 years the force of hurracanes have increased two fold due to the extra warmth.
People are so flippant, it's just quite stunning , the shrugging off.

I don't think you got my point. The planet itself will be fine. And when i say us I mean animal and other life. Simple fact is though global warming has happened before way before human influence. If it happens then so be it humans thankfully are very good at adapting.

The planet has been through natural changes yes, but at that time there wasn't 7 billion humans sending 30 billion tones of co2s into the atmosphere every year.
Once again, complacency fail.....

You expect 7 billion people to suddenly start caring ? It's not complacency its simply down to need. The need for oil especially in places like China and America out way the need for change.

Already said this before humans are reactive creatures not proactive. It will take global warming and lack of oil to change are need for it. I do my part as best I can one person can't change what will eventually happen.

I've noticed some things, particularly in this thread.

People misusing and/or misspelling words on purpose. It's too consistent to be an accident.

When you say "I would of done that," it should be "I would have done that."
When you say "This is are thread," it should be "This is our thread."
When you say - and this is a quote - "The need for oil especially in places like China and America out way the need for change," you mean "The need for oil especially in places like China and America outweigh the need for change." Not taking into consideration punctuation errors.

Mistakes are okay, but when it's on purpose I wonder what it is about the circumstance or situation during the time you make a post that makes it either hard to think or recall previous education. I'm not saying anyone's stupid, you're clearly not, but it just seems like English is being neglected, and the primary form or communication on here is through typing and English. Why? Why not type your best no matter what? Why would it be any harder than doing what you do now? I mean sure, a few mistakes here and there happen, I wouldn't expect you to proof read a forum post, but there's simply no obvious effort to begin with.

I'm insanely bored and tired and was on here reading threads I don't normally read just for the lulz or curiosity, and this was my observation. I mean no offense, and I know it is off topic, but maybe I'll be just out of place in this thread to catch people's eye and get awareness for this epidemic! Plus it was where I saw enough to feel like I needed to say something.

Anyway, if you got this far then congrats!

That's fine, but I mean... why? I understand telling perfect grammar to fuck off, but spelling, capitalization and punctuation? Why? It just seems that if you know it and have used it that it wouldn't be so hard as to justify not using ever, unless you HAVE to.

Also, side note: That was the most friendly and seemingly unoffended response to that post that I could imagine ever getting. Thanks!

I think you are missing his point, which seems to be "humans and other animals may well die, but the planet will survive and it will be fine."
