So after Virgin doubled up, BT are going to double up their FTTC customers from 40Mb to 80Mb! Which is pretty decent of them, plus they'll be double the upload so you get 20Mb up. Better than Virgin who stick to a 10:1 down:up ratio.
BT has also announced the end of a successful trial of a new version of its much faster fibre-to-the-premises broadband product, called ‘FTTP on demand’, which lets users in FTTC areas simply ask to have their homes or businesses hooked up to the full-power up-to-300Mb system.
So I'm guess FTTP will come with a huge installation cost. But at least it's an option.
