Well today's the day MS are planning to get back into the mobile OS game. WinMo has been serious stuck in the last gen on Mobile OS and has been blown away by Android, palm and mainly iPhone.

The first sneak screens seem to show Xbox Live integration and a much more touch friendly interface. http://goo.gl/9lRv

So hopefully they can throw a spanner in the works. Hopefully they have seen what the other do welll and what they don't do so well and come up with something great. Personally I would like to see:

An Open App Environment, like windows, development should be open to all and access to apps shouldn't be restricted to a moderated store.
Simple but capable UI, iPhone does great UI but if they can extend that to more complex tasks like multitasking that would be great.
Scalability - iPhone OS and Android are both being used in tablet devices, I think to be a contender it may have to scale up too.

It's looks very good so far, I think the interface would scale up pretty well. The large screen at the press conf could almost be a tablet version.

I see integrated XBL shifting a lot of window phones to gamers.

The online social aspect is crazy. Status updates for your friends from most networking sites in one area without having to go into apps.

Will be interesting to see what games they have.

No o2 from the looks of things. It will be interesting to see what handsets the partners can come up with.

mmm Very interesting. Certainly going to be in the running when I change my phone. Sounds like they aren't release all the details yet. The App situation should be cleared up in 3 weeks at MIX, just a shame they couldn't shed some light on it now.

Is it just me or do these shots look tablet ready?

Damn, my BlackBerry contract is up in July and it doesn't seem like any Windows 7 phones will be out in the Summer.
