F1 2011 - Hungary, Hungaroring Circuit (Nighteyes Epic Win!)

Postby NighteyesUK on Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:52 pm

Track Guide:

Vettel's Pole lap from last season:

Okay! After my epicest of epic fails last weekend, here is the Hungary GP thread, now with videos!! Hamilton's win at the Nurburgring took everyone by surprise, even Lewis! It was a welcome sight though, especially with Vettel only managing to take 4th place. Perhaps there is hope yet for a great showdown at the end of the season; but between whom? This weekend, Red Bull will be looking to bounce right back with another win; while Ferrari will be hoping the supposedly higher track-temperature should allow them to be even more competitive than they were in Germany.

On paper, this track should suit the McLaren car, especially as it's arguably the best when it comes to mechanical grip; however, we've seen the Red Bull take the win in past races with similar downforce requirements. Ferrari's recent upgrades have shown they have the pace, so that is why my driver to watch this weekend is Alonso. However, keep a sharp eye on Button; two DNFs in a row will have him gagging for a good result, and he has won in Budapest before.

Yeah, it hasn't been that long since last weeks failure. I don't get over things that quickly.

Looking forward to the race, as always. Can McLaren/Ferrari win again?

You don't mention that Sky will be showing the whole of each session and race live.

I think Sky will do a great job, but with BBC also playing a part, it means Sky probs won't be able to poach Jake & Martin. :x

It's a bit shocking.

Cow made a good point on Twitter, Sky do great sports coverage, they've come a long long way since the last time they had F1.

I'd imagine it's worse news for people who don't have Sky Sports already, or don't want to get it. I suppose this means adverts in races again, well only 10 race, I'm pretty sure I'll watch the other races on the Beeb.

I've got a feeling they might go for Crofty.

They might even do that thing where they have adverts and coverage at the same time. sort of P-in-P style so that you see and hear ads but can still see the race in the background. Can't think of any other sports they show that has more than 45 minutes of unbroken action where they can't show ads.

Annoying for someone like me who hasn't got Sky and never felt the need for Sky. Is it really worth me getting it just to watch F1? I'd have to think about that.

I just think that Murdoch getting close to Government lead to pressure to reduce the budget of the BBC, which leads to pressure on the sports they can show, with leads to this!

How much is it to get Sky Sports through your xbox if you don't have sky?

Spot on, I'm not happy about this either. I don't want to have to pay for sky and the beeb have done such a good job with F1, it's one of the reasons i'm now a big fan. I'll probably just end up watching the ones on the beeb and the highlights, but it will mean that I probably end up not being as interested anymore too.

be honest though, the highlights programme was way better than watching the live coverage of canada or valencia this year

think this sums it up though:
martin brundle wrote:BBC/Sky/F1 2012+. Found out last night, no idea how it will work yet I'm out of contract, will calmly work through options Not impressed

I think I'll be happiest if he goes to sky. I'm sure they'll want to transplant the BBC set-up the same way ITV "took" muzza and martin when they had it.

Apparently the races won't have adverts in on Sky. Which is a big plus.

Sky will treat F1 well, I'm sure of that. They cover everything from speedway to premiership football with the same level of commitment that the fans demand so I can't see this being any different. My only wish is that they somehow get Brundle to work for them.

Well the BBC sell on the English commentary, maybe they'll use the same commentary on both?
