Don't know why I never started a thread about this in the first place, since it has already been out in the UK and is set for release on DVD/Blu Ray next month.
Attack the Block was pretty damn sweet!
It was written and directed by Joe Cornish (of Adam and Joe fame) and centred around a bunch of South London kids during an alien invasion. I didn't know a great deal about the film going in and, to be honest, didn't think the above trailer was all that hot. In no way did it do the film justice though. The characters I expected to hate (most of them) became very likeable and quickly. The, I dunno, street talk is well written and genuinely funny. The young cast do a great job selling the whole thing and the aliens they face off against are quite brilliant in their simplicity.
The Blu of this should be delivered tomorrow, missed it at the pictures so looking forward to seeing it. Seems as if British Comedy/Horror has found it's confidence again.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Is it because of the setting? Don't get me wrong, I thought, going in, that I'd want to kill all the characters. But aside from a few throwaway lines I found them weirdly likeable. It's a well made film.
I thought I'd hate it, due to the human characters being knife-wielding chav scumbags, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Not something I'd bother watching again, though.
