Actually, I was thinking that myself after hallben said "The problem for me is that the film steps over a very faint line. That between good writing that infers enough to allow people to speculate and a script being written poorly enough that it requires logic leaps that asks the audience to write it for them."

---------------------

I do think this is good, despite (IMO) not living up to the hype. Unlike Resurrection, this is a film I'd happily watch again. It just needed some more character development and plot development, plus it didn't really have the suspense of Alien. As before, I'm hoping for a Director's Cut...

LOL. I never really thought about it like that, but yeh, there are some strong similarities to the ME3 situation, though I thought ME3 landed on the other side of the line. Wow, this shit is so subjective, LOL. :D

Let me also add I enjoyed the film for the most part, me and Tez both gave it a 7. I just think it could have been more. I have read some of Scott's comments and it seems that according to him this is the directors cut, then again, this is the man who cut Blade Runner like a million times.

He does say stuff was on the cutting room floor though, so even if those scenes aren't reintroduced into the film they should be on the disk. I suppose it will be ultimately down to Fox.

Mark Kermode really liked it. The guy kinda does my head in, but I'm surprised he didn't rip it apart. He obviously loves broad sci-fi. No spoilers:

Something unrelated to plot or character or questions or suspense... Accents.

Was Shaw supposed to be British? It sounded to me Rapace like was attempting an English accent... but then gave up on it later on.

I wasn't impressed by Idris Elba's accent either. Was it supposed to be a Southern US accent or something? He should have stuck with his real accent, or the US accent he used for The Wire.

Well, the Theatrical Cut of Alien was always his preferred version of that, but that didn't stop him making a so-called "Director's Cut" at the request of Fox for the original "Quadrilogy" box...

The only one that bugged me was Rafe Spall's. He should sound like this:

Makes me wonder sometimes. Is it money? If you want an American, why not just hire an American?

If someone can put on a convincing accent and they are right for the part, then why not. The Wire features several British people playing Americans very well.

An English guy playing an American playing an English guy.

McNulty's fake English accent is classic

I still remember that scene in the brothel...

I think I'll forget this film a lot quicker than McNulty's Brit accent. That trailer was TOO good and ruined the whole thing. Script was trash too.

I'm pretty sure the leaked early plot I read in 2010 made more sense than this too. Ben pretty much covered all the plotholes over the last 2 pages so I won't bother repeating them.

Of all the things to pick holes in, someone at DS has chosen the space travel...

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthre ... 35&page=25

As there is "no such thing as FTL travel", a 2 year journey is not long enough to travel the distance required to reach LV-233...

My Dad wants to see this so I thought "Hey, lets go tomorrow."

Sold out.

Opens tomorrow in the states. It's gonna go big. Ridley Scott wants to do more but the guy is 74. I still can't get over that. And he's got two or maybe even three films in development right now.

My 78 year old Great Aunt can barely work a TV.
