An absolutely thrilling episode this week, and a first for Game of Thrones? With the entire episode taking place in one location. I can't wait to see the consequences of all the shit that went down.

A thrilling episode would be a first for Game of Thrones.

I'm actually surprised they have made the battle so epic (from what I hear). You only really saw bits from what I recall.

Book spoiler.

It's a shame that Tyrion's planning has been pretty much taken out. I hear there's not even the chain...

I read that it was originally going to be another off-screen battle, but the showrunners convinced HBO to up the budget to allow for an actual battle. Even then, it's still limited by money of course, hence bits having to be left out.

To be fair that was good. Why did they take two seasons to get round to it?

Very very good episode, the Dragonfire was amazing!

Guess the finale will be Quarth and North of the Wall.

Wow that was bloody brilliant. 8) 8) 8) 8)

GOT is my favourite tv by an absolute mile at the moment.

Guess it will be 3 toots on the Night Watch horn next week.

In the book, everything was building up to this moment, you sensed that it was going to be massive. All the schemes Tyrion put into place lead to this. sadly, the show didn't really make this apparant. There was no chain, no training of the archers and catapult users and they didn't make wildfire a big deal before this.

You never really see battles in the books, they are more heard about and you see the repercussions of these fights. Game of Thrones was never about sword fights and epic battles. That's what Lord of the Rings is for. In Thrones, we get complex and brilliant characters and don't get me wrong, I love action as much as the next guy but Game of Thrones is not an action show, it is a drama first and fore-most.

As a non-book-reader I can say that I thought the series conveyed all of the "impending war" anticipation brilliantly. Perhaps your expectations are different but I loved it.
