Britxbox.co.uk has gone down in British gaming history as the first website to host large console based LAN events in the UK. We've hosted a total of five LAN events since we began them in June 2003 and they've gone from strength to strength ever since.

Our LAN events have appeared in issues four, seven and nine of Xbox World Magazine and in issue 34 of Official Xbox Magazine as part of their Play:More Summer Tour. The LAN events have also gained us coverage on many websites the largest ones including www.teamxbox.com, www.officialxboxmagazine.com and www.msxbox-world.com.

From the beginning, our LAN events have received support from various publishers including Microsoft, Ubisoft, Codemasters and 2K Games, who have supplied thousands of pounds worth of prizes to give away to the winners of the single player and team tournaments we held at each LAN event.

Thanks to partnerships with Xbox World and Official Xbox Magazine, we've been able to secure first play exclusives for our LAN visitors on titles like Project Gotham Racing 2 and Second Sight, as well as providing the first opportunity for gamers to get their hands on the 2004 hit game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

Press Events

Britxbox has also attended a whole range of different press events and has produced unique content, exclusive news and interviews as a result. In 2005 we attended E3 in LA; in 2006 we attended Microsoft's X06 event in Barcelona; in 2007 we attended both Ubidays in Paris and the Leipzig Games Convention. Plus a whole range of smaller press events with Ubisoft, Codemasters, Microsoft and others.

Press Coverage

The first article that appear in Xbox World magazine was a feature on the all-girl casual gaming clan 'The Phoenix Angels', who started out their lives on BXB. The second was a feature on a member of the BXB communty having the Xbox logo tattooed onto his arm.

In November 2005, Britxbox became the first website in the world to feature the Xbox 360's European Launch Advert in association with the Xbox Community Network.

In December 2005, Britxbox was added to Microsoft's EMEA Reviewer Kit List and received a Xbox Development Kit to allow us to utilise advanced preview code supplied by publishers.

In February 2006, Britxbox also announced an affiliation with fellow Xbox Community Network site www.xboxgamezone.co.uk with the intention of providing both communities with access to tournaments. So far users from both sites have benefited from a range of competitions which are also advertised on the Xbox Live Calendar which appears on Xbox.com and many Xbox magazines.

Also, February 2006 saw BXB added to the Xbox Developers Program which gave BXB access to a range of new restricted feeds from Xbox Live. BXB was recognised as the first website in the world to include Gamercards on their forum by Xbox.com.

In February 2006, Britxbox established itself as the leading UK Xbox Community site by working closely with top publisher Ubisoft and Skirmish Paintball High Wycombe to host the unique Join The Ghosts event.

With the Join The Ghosts event BXB took a further step in terms of working with the rest of the Xbox Community. BXB supplied content for 14 online media outlets including a number of fellow Xbox Community Network sites and three print media outlets including 360 Gamer Magazine, Official Xbox 360 Magazine and Games TM.
