Introduction

Britxbox.co.uk was created in 2002 by programmer and web-designer Ashley Allen. Since then the site has continued to see steady growth and is now one of the oldest and most popular Xbox Community sites in the UK. The site was originally created for British Xbox Live gamers to meet up and has become a large and buzzing community. In 2008 Britxbox.co.uk was totally relaunched with a new look and a range of improvements to the site.

In this Online Portfolio you will find everything you want and need to know about who we are, where we came from and where we are going. It will list our achievements during the time the site has been running; we'll show you genuine user testimonials of the site; we'll give you an in-depth look into our history and what we have planned for the future.

Past

The creation of our site was very much inspired by the new, revolutionary services that the Xbox began offering to mainstream gamers in 2002, as Ashley Allen - Director of the site - took part in the open beta testing for Xbox Live.

Britxbox started off as a simple community forum created as a place for British Xbox Live enthusiasts to visit, discuss new games and arrange matches. A strong word of mouth campaign saw the site grow steadily over the coming months with many British gamers who previously used websites like TeamXbox and Xbox2k finding themselves a home on BXB.

Around three months later BXB, launched its front page services and content was provided by a user contribution system where news, videos and reviews could be submitted to the front page. As well the front page, BXB began offering free forums for UK Clans which quickly became very popular and were used by over 50 UK and European clans.

Present

The relaunch of Britxbox.co.uk took place in November 2008 as we celebrated our 6th Birthday. The creation of the new site was comissioned by Director Ashley Allen to update the aging style and to improve our navigation and unique content delivery. The relaunch was also intended to create advertising opportunities. Web-designer Dave Cartlidge created the new look site, more about Dave can be found at www.apocalypsecow.co.uk

Our site currently receives on average 40,000 unique visitors every month creating over 300,000 impressions with 82% of visitors from UK while others are from the US and rest of the world. (Figures based on monthly average traffic figures for 2008)

Future

With the relaunch behind us, Britxbox will be focusing on delivering unique content; continuing to focus on community activities both online and offline; offering advertising solutions as well as continuing to launch new features on the site.
